| HOW TO MAKE LYE-HARDWOOD ASH FOR SOAP MAKING-Part 1Sun, 30 Nov 2008 18:36:43 -0800 by pioneerlivingI went to the hardware store and discovered that you can't buy lye any more to make soap, because of the misuse in certain non legal entertainment use. Since we are making soap, I didn't know anything about this, and went home to make lye. I have been burning hardwood to make ash for this project for 5 days in my Dutch Stove. We had a good rain, so collected rain in my rain barrel and started the experiment. This is part one "HOW TO MAKE LYE-HARDWOOD ASH FOR SOAP MAKING" Lye is made from hardwood ash made from burning hardwoods, like maple, birch, beech,el m,oak and I have a large list of hardwood trees at the end of the film. This video was requested by youtube users. What is hardwood? The term hardwood describes wood from a broad-leaved angiosperm tree. In simplier terms mostly deciduous, you know the types of trees that loose their leaves in the Autumn;but there are tropical trees that produce hardwoods too. The wood has a higher density and hardness than softwoods, like conifer trees, with the evergreen needle..pine,fir and cedar. Hardwoods are found all over the world and in North America and Canada. Some of the hardwoods you might have in your region could be' oak, beech, ash, maple, cherry, apple, apricot, basically fruit trees. If you live in a tropical climate the hardwoods include, teak, mahogany, iroko, ebony and rubberwood. At the end of this film, I will list most known hardwoods.Hardwoods (angiosperms)Afzelia (Afzelia) Agba yun (Synsepalum duloificum) Albizia (Albizia) Alder (Alnus) Black alder (Alnus glutinosa) Red alder (Alnus rubra) Applewood or wild apple (Malus) Ash (Fraxinus) Black ash (Fraxinus nigra) Blue ash (Fraxinus quadrangulata) Common ash (Fraxinus excelsior) Green ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica lanceolata) Oregon ash (F. latifolia) Pumpkin ash (F. profunda) White ash (Fraxinus americana) Aspen (Populus) Related: how to make lye hardwood ash soap making part maple apple oak beech birch larch ironwood | |

| Ibanez RGT42DX ReviewMon, 24 Nov 2008 11:31:49 -0800 by RedSGShredderThis is my review of my new guitar, the Ibanez RGT42DX.I got this because I wanted a guitar with a double locking Floyd Rose style tremolo. I still hate maintaining them though. It was $700 with free shipping. I got it online from Guitar Center. It has an Edge III bridge, which in my opinion is better than other Floyd Rose style bridges I've tried. It feels solid and I can palm mute relatively hard on it.This is a neck through guitar. It has neck and headstock binding but you can't see it very well because the whole guitar is white. It has a Wizard II neck with mother of pearl sharktooth inlays, and 24 frets. It has a larger and wider neck than my SG.Most of the guitar is mahogany, and the fretboard is rosewood. The pickups are some generic Ibanez Infinity pickups. The tuners are also generic. The feel of this guitar is great and the bridge feels nice too. It is easy to play and it feels solid. It is a high quality instrument. The things I don't like about it are the noisy stock pickups and the boring body shape. Overall though I think this is a great guitar.Yes, I will still play my SG! And no I'm not going to change my name to "WhiteRGShredder" or something like that, heh.
