Inlaid Box
Fri, 05 Sep 2008 10:46:22 -0700 by HandMadeFurniture

The jewelry box in this photo utilizes an inlaid top made from assorted hardwoods, put together in patchwork fashion. Though the design is laid back, the joinery is precise. I'm including the box to show I don't just make period reproductions. I'm equally passionate about contemporary design: and combining many kinds of wood for interesting effects.------------ --------------Thomas E. Shaping Table Legs
Fri, 05 Sep 2008 10:36:36 -0700 by HandMadeFurniture

A pair of legs being smoothed is the subject of this video. There are 4 in all, and they are the beginning of a coffee table which I'll be completing over the next few months. Inspiration for the table began with the leg design. After all 4 legs are completed, they will be connected to aprons and a top.

Tip and Turn Table
Fri, 05 Sep 2008 10:21:42 -0700 by HandMadeFurniture

. The Tip and Turn Table represents about 8 months work. It began with a 5 inch thick plank of Honduran Mahogany which I hand sawed into 4 pieces of wood. These were joined in such a way that the grain flows continuously, giving the appearance of a single plank top. All planing, sawing, shaping and fitting of joints was done by hand- the only machinery used was a lathe. The table is finished with multiple layers of shellac and wax.
