Selena screamed from the hall. She sounded uber pissed and exasperated, maybe because I hadn't opened the door after half an hour. I resigned. Selena could be pretty scary when she was on a roll.I unbolted the door, and she thundered in. "What the buck is your problem?! Why can't you let me in?!" she shouted, plopping on my bed. "Why can't you open the lock, Miss Macho Pants?" I asked, hunkering down on my computer chair and spinning around. Fuck girls and their puny asses."Shut up, Nick. What's your problem? I haven't seen you in like three days!" she exclaimed. And she was right. I'd skipped school on Friday and hadn't left my house since I'd gotten home from the park on that fateful Thursday. Though I wasn't proud of myself, I was slowly evolving into a full-fledged hermit.Selena's expression softened. I stopped spinning, and she came over and knelt by the chair, resting her head on the arm. "What's the matter? You don't seem right," she said, hints of love and concern appearing in her voice. She started to stroke my hand."I'm fine. I'm just...tired, I guess," I said, sighing."No, you're not. I'm not leaving this room until you tell me what's wrong, and neither are you," Selena said resolutely, bolting the door shut. She smiled. "Unless you're prepared for a full dose of Selena Gomez for the next 4 hours, you better tell me what's up," she said evilly.We were silent for ten minutes. Then Selena stood up and went to my computer, in a random act of Selena-ness. She shuffled the mouse around, and it came back to life. Suddenly, my eyes froze wide in shock. 'Oh shit,' I thought to myself. 'I'm doomed!!!!!'Selena hunted it out. "What's this?" she asked me, giving me full view of my desktop. I had photoshopped a picture of the three of us from last summer. (me, her, and Demi) Selena had been on my left, and Demi was on my right. I had cropped out Selena, giving a view of me and Demi. We looked as if we were hugging (aka, a couple). It was my desktop wallpaper."Uhhh..."" Last time I checked, I remember a third person in this picture. What happened to the outrageously gorgeous girl on your left?" she asked menacingly. Uh-oh. D:"Well, I kind of photoshopped it, cuz...ermm..."In the matter of a second, I felt a lump rising in my throat, and nervous sweat dripping from my forehead. (Yeah, I sweat when I get nervous.) I talked very fast and almost insensibly."Okay, so...I might've had a teeny crush on Demi since second grade or something but I don't know...nothing ever happened and I've been waiting but I guess she doesn't feel that way because she likes someone else--" I babbled on. The same girl that's actually gotten her foot stuck in the toilet?" she asked. I laughed and nodded. "I think I'd love her even if she was a murderer," I said softly. Selena looked at me, her face full of shock."And...hang on. You said she likes someone else? Who might this person be?" she queried. Oh shit. Selena Gomez always knew how to get to the point."Yeah. I don't know. I heard her singing this love song in the park the other day. But she never said the person's name," I semi-fibbed. Better safe than sorry--Demi would personally beat the shit out of me if she found out that I informed Selena of it."Oh. That's so weird. She never told me about it," Selena said thoughtfully."Maybe she doesn't want you to know cuz it's embarrassing or something.""That's true...but she's never kept a secret from me before. Crap."Okay, how do you know that I--" I started, but she didn't even let me finish. "Nick, I can't believe you!! If you didn't want to do me a favor, then you should've just said so!" she raged. Selena was so in her element of rancor that she got up, kicked me above the shins, and stormed out of my room. I tried to stand up, but my leg was smarting from the pain.
