How could I live with myself? I was unbelievable to promise my girlfriend of two years, Selena, that I could manage to be sober for that long.I walked on the curb of the street with my hands dug deep into my pockets. My mind was blown away with Selena and . . . Selena. She was just amazing, beautiful, talented . . . I could name so many things about her. She was mine forever and no one could lay a finger on her.I walked into 7 Eleven and met up with Mitchell, Hayley, JoJo, and Avril. I hadn't seen them in forever. They were the same crack-heads as the last time I saw them. It was so cool to have the girls smirk at us while Mitchell shouted "Dayum!" at every chick that walked by."Hey, 'sup, guys?" I smiled at them."Well, if it isn't Mr. Sober!" Avril teased. "I can't believe you . . . two years of nothing? Not even on New Year's?"I gulped, shaking the thought away of New Year's.She looked down. "Right. Sorry. I should've--""It's fine, let it go," I snapped. "Listen, it was great seeing you guys, but . . . I have to meet up with Selena. I'm taking her out; it's her birthday." I grimaced at them, waved shortly, and walked out.Selena was wearing pink skinny jeans, yellow Converse, and my black leather jacket that I gave her after the first night we had . . . sex. I grinned at the thought. She was my first and I was her first. Nothing could be more special than doing it with the one you love, right?She ran into my arms and kissed my cheek. "What's up, babe?" She took my hands and laced her fingers around them.I shrugged. "I met up with Mitchell, JoJo, Avril, and Hayley. The same as usual. Happy birthday." I smiled within our kiss. "Ready to go?" I put my arm protectively around her waist, leading her to my car.She giggled. "Yes, I'm ready!"We arrived at the restaurant ten minutes later after endless replays of U2 and Pink Floyd, two of my favorite '80s bands.The lights were dimmed in the restaurant and there was low music. People were taking in mutters, murmurs, and whispers. Couples were holding hands across the table and sipping champagne. I held Selena's hand tightly as we walked to our table.The waiter came instantly. His hair was slicked back and he had green, electrifying eyes. He was my ex-dealer's son, Robert. Robert Pattinson. I hated this dude's living guts. He stared at me and then smiled at Selena. "I have to use the ladies' room. Excuse me." Selena smiled at me, stood up, and walked briskly into the bathroom.Robert sat down at her seat. "You know what I want, Jonas.""I'm not giving you money, Pattinson," I snarled.He smirked viciously at me. "I know what you did three years ago on New Year's. Just keep that in mind."Once Selena got back, he left. "What's wrong?"I clenched my jaw. "Nothing, we need a new waiter, that's all," I lied.
