Knowing was filmed in Melbourne, Australia, using various locations to represent the film's setting, Boston. | NEIL SEDAKA - That's When The Music Takes MeThu, 08 Jan 2009 14:12:50 -0800 by MusicMeanMachine"THAT'S WHEN THE MUSIC TAKES ME" - Released 1975 - NEIL SEDAKA, Born in Brooklyn, New York, U.S..A. on 13th March 1939, Neil began his interest in music at the age of four, listening to radio programs, and by the age of eight he began playing the piano for five hours a day. At thirteen, whilst playing the piano at a hotel resort, he was approached by Ella Greenfield, who suggested he should write songs with her sixteen year old son Howard, who wrote poetry. So a partnership was formed that lasted into the eighties writing over 500 songs. In 1956, while still at high school, Sedaka was selected by Arthur Rubinstein to play on New York City's classical radio station. He was also awarded a scholarship at New York's prestigious Juilliard School of Music. At the same time he set down his rock 'n' roll and doo-wop roots, singing in an early version of the Tokens group. In 1958, he had his first song writing success with the Connie Francis' hit song, Stupid Cupid. He signed with the RCA label in the late Fifties as a solo artist. He came to prominence as a solo performer in 1959 with the wild rock 'n' roll piano song, I Go Ape. Most of his hit records, which were composed in association with Howard Greenfield, came in the early Sixties and included Oh Carol, Little Devil, Calendar Girl, Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen and Breaking Up Is Hard to Do, a number one hit in 1962. He also had success in 1961 with the title song from the movie Where The Boys Are, which Connie Francis also sang. By 1963, after selling some twenty-five million records, Neil was riding the wave of international success. However, the big-hits stopped rolling in for Sedaka after the British Invasion in 1964. He concentrated more on the songwriting end of the business during the next decade, continuing to write with Greenfield and scoring the occasional hit.
