| Hanns.G HG281D 28" monitor negative effect (backlight bleed?) part 1Thu, 08 Jan 2009 19:13:39 -0800 by LazyRevolutionaryThere's a kind of negative effect at the top of the screen, where colours get darker and sort of wrap around to become brighter again, so for instance grey writing on a black background will appear as black writing on a light grey background when it's viewed at the top of the screen. With it being a 28" monitor the affected area is pretty big - I couldn't cover it with both hands.2:42 and 3:46 are probably the best examples in the video.1:15 - the white marks on the ceiling clearly disappear into black before becoming black marks on a grey background2:03 - ceiling showing the negative effect2:42 - you can actually read the writing at the top of the sign ("light them up!") it is clearly black on grey at the top of the screen and grey on black when its not3:46 - the black test at http://www.lagom.nl/ lcd-test/black.php - you can clearly see the squares disappear into blackness before becoming *darker than the background*, which brightens. The last non white square on the bottom row is grey level 40.4:19 - I cranked the brightness on the monitor to max and back to show that it doesn't get rid of the effect, but the camera adjusted for it so you can't really tell on the video.4:46 - from the side the picture improves quite a bit - but I can't use it from over there.5:43 - desktop looks fine - this is only noticeable on dark images (ie 90% of games) Related: hanns.g hg281d 28 monitor backlight bleed negative | |
